Amaranth Advisor's Manos Vourkoutiotis Starts New Fund Backed By Moore Capital Management
Globe and Mail reporting that Manos Vourkoutiotis, head of Amaranth Advisors LLC's Canadian arm, has raised $800-million to open a new fund backed by New York billionaire Louis Bacon's Moore Capital Management. At Amaranth, Vourkoutiotis invested in distressed debt and equities.

Greenwich Associates: European Institutions have flocked to hedge funds
A new study by Greenwich Associates says that "[t]he percentage of continental European institutions investing in hedge funds tops that of every market in the world save Japan, but to date actual allocations to hedge funds and other alternative asset classes have failed to keep pace with optimistic expectations."
